MOTHERHOOD♥

As the mother of one child, I have to say that I am deeply moved by the sacred responsibility and gift, which motherhood - has been in my personal life thus far. Since the birth of my daughter there have been many times that I felt I didn't completely understand the full impact of what motherhood was about. Because of it, on occasion I find myself down in the dumps. Until I realized that I'm sure it's perfectly normal for new mothers - you know!? Yes, I'm a new mother and I've been tossed to and fro by the wings of adversity and I'm sure there's much more adversity to come but, with adversity I've also been at the peak of JOY. Lately, I have come to understand and appreciate - the privilege and power - of motherhood!

I have often heard that a mother is not only a teacher, but even more - she herself, becomes the humblest of student. We mothers are often to be found kneeling at the feet of a wise Father, who is in Heaven. With that being said I feel I will be eternally indebted to the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who have taught well - the sacred and most divine roles and responsibility - of being a MOTHER. I now know just how important my life's work is and will continue to be.

Here is a beautiful quote from our dear late Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley on the eternal truth and sacred role of women and motherhood! I hope you will enjoy it as I have.

President Gordon B. Hinckley on motherhood:
“Most of you are mothers, and very many of you are grandmothers and even great-grandmothers. You have walked the sometimes painful, sometimes joyous path of parenthood. You have walked hand in hand with God in the great process of bringing children into the world that they might experience this estate along the road of immortality and eternal life. It has not been easy rearing a family. Most of you have had to sacrifice and skimp and labor night and day. As I think of you and your circumstances, I think of the words of Anne Campbell, who wrote as she looked upon her children:

You are the trip I did not take;

You are the pearls I cannot buy;

You are my blue Italian lake;

You are my piece of foreign sky.

(“To My Child,” quoted in Charles L. Wallis, ed., The Treasure Chest [1965], 54)

  • You [mothers] are the real builders of the nation wherever you live, for you have created homes of strength and peace and security. These become the very sinew of any nation.” Gordon B. Hinckley, “Women of the Church,” Ensign, Nov 1996, 67

Here is another insert from Elder M. Russell Ballard that I found very comforting:

Elder M. Russell Ballard on mothering:
"There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children. The choice is different and unique for each mother and each family. Many are able to be “full-time moms,” at least during the most formative years of their children’s lives, and many others would like to be. Some may have to work part-or full-time; some may work at home; some may divide their lives into periods of home and family and work. What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else."  “Daughters of God,” Ensign, May 2008, 108–10

In reading this I hope that it has touched your heart as it has mine. I feel that we as mothers/daughters of our Heavenly Father need to be reminded how much we are loved and how important our role is especially in the world today! With that being said, you all have a beautiful & blessed rest of the week :)

TEA Time :)

I've found this new LOVE for TEA but it has to be SWEET TEA. In all honesty I have no freakin' idea where my new found love for tea came from but it tastes so good. I swear after my pregnancy my taste buds
got all screwed up (haha). I used to think tea was the most disgusting thing ever but lately it seems as if it just has this explosive yummy(ness) to it (if that's even a word). You should definitely try it! It'll seriously get you hooked :)

Birthday Ideas Anyone!?!?!

So I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do for my hubby's birthday next Wednesday! I mean he's a guy do they really care to get anything at all!? I'm completely clueless. Yeah, there's always the romantic dinner and a movie, but don't people get sick of that after a while. Because, I sure do! I know for sure I'm making him a cake, a Chantilly cake to be exact. Don't even bother asking me for the recipe because it just ain't gonna happen! So if anyone has any ideas please hit a sistah up! I'd surely appreciate it. Thanks!

Fashion Passion!

It's been way too long since I last shopped
for someone other than myself. Especially
after having a child you tend to notice
that you'll start caring more for your
child than you do about oneself. No! I'm
not saying that having a child has completely
ruined every and any chance that I've
ever had to spend money on myself,
all I'm saying is don't let it be an excuse to
spoil yourself once in awhile. With
that being said I've compiled a
wonderful wish list that needs some
major retail therapy in order for it to be
fulfilled :) Hoping my husband will have
some kind of sympathy and let me go
a little wild at the mall!

Jumping the Broom!

I married my sweetheart on
the 13th of November 2010.
Leading up to the wedding things
were just hectic & overwhelming. So
I'm sure you can imagine that
the only thing I really wanted was
for the day to be OVER. As my wedding day
approached anxiety started to kick in. I
was more nervous than ever and had
butterflies like crazy! The ceremony
was beautiful. And the reception was so fun,
I didn't want the night to end! I feel so
 blessed to have been able to share such a
 beautiful day with my Family & friends.
